Article Marketing Basics

Article Marketing is one of the most (in my opinion) rewarding ways to market online for free.
When you place an article on any article submission site, you claim a small piece of real-estate that can seriously place money in your pocket for the extent of the internet.
So I want to suggest you start your article subscription with the internets most well respected and prominent article submission site… Ezine Articles. Start here first and always post your articles here first. They actually crawl the entire web to make sure that your content is unique. Save your best content for this site!
Now there are a few things you must know about article marketing.
- It takes time to drive the amount of traffic you might be looking for today
- You must provide original and beneficial content.
So here in the next few minutes, I’m going to give you all the short cuts to having you spit out TOP NOTCH articles in 20 minutes or less.
Using this format will allow you to save time and at the same time, provide your readers all the best reasons why they should follow you.
So the first thing you want to start with in article marketing is your topic. BUT… the last thing you want to work on here is the title so don’t worry about that just yet.
What you want to start with are the 3 main points that you want to make on your specific keyword or idea.
Main Point #1:
Main Point #2:
Main Point #3:
Then the next thing you want to do is build the thoughts on each one of those main points. This is where you will want to write 3-5 sentences supporting your main point.
Main Point #1:
- Backup Sentence 1:
- Backup Sentence 2:
- Backup Sentence 3:
- Backup Sentence 4:
- Backup Sentence 5:
Main Point #2:
- Backup Sentence 1:
- Backup Sentence 2:
- Backup Sentence 3:
- Backup Sentence 4:
- Backup Sentence 5:
Main Point #3:
- Backup Sentence 1:
- Backup Sentence 2:
- Backup Sentence 3:
- Backup Sentence 4:
- Backup Sentence 5:
This is what your format should look like.
Now the next part is often suggested to be the introduction but I can make many different cases where that should be the last thing you should do. So In order to save time, let’s just say that this is where you want to write your closing paragraph.
Closing Paragraph:
- Closing Point #1:
- Closing Point #2:
- Closing Point #3:
Finally, we are at the last step and that would be the introduction. The reason I most often leave this for the last is because your reader will make a subconscious decision if they think you are writing with integrity and are providing value. This is why I most often leave the introduction for last. This is your chance to really WOW the reader when all of your writing juiciness is in FULL SWING!
Introduction:
Problem: This is where you address the entire situation that your reader might be facing.
Solution: This is where you tell the reader how by reading this article, they will have all their problems answered.
Finally I want to just finish by saying that your main purpose of writing articles should always follow this rule:
- Tell them what you are going to tell them.
- Tell them.
- Tell them what you told them.
There you go. Now get out there and start knocking out those articles. With each one taking around 20 min each to start and finish, you should set a goal for around 5 articles each day for the first month. After you have completed your first 25, then consider spinning them and posting them to other article submission sights.

Great advice Dereck, I like how you say 5 articles a day, just imagine if you only did that for 30 days straight! Awesome post as usual

Hey Derrick,
I was reading another one of your posts first but I did a quick click to read this one. It is great to have a format to start my writing and also a challenge to start writing. At first I thought 5/day, he is crazy. Then I realized that it will excel my ability to write good post if I practice each day.
