Facebook – Creating A Reveal Tab
Posted on 06. Feb, 2011 by Dereck Arreguin in HowTo
This is the third step in the customization process for your facebook fan page.
But in case you missed it, check out the other two postings so you have a better idea of how we got here.
Today, we’re going to be creating what is called a reveal tab.
Here is a small list of reasons why a reveal tab is going to be important to your and your business.
- It’s a cool way to add value to your prosepcts
- I separates you from everyone else
- You can give away some really cool stuff
- You gain a fan the easy way
- You can offer them a chance to join your marketing list
- You create credibility and excitement
There’s really endless reasons why YOU MUST have a reveal tab. Remember, if you set this page to be your landing page when people make their way to your site, then the majority of the hard lifting has been done for you (facebook PPC).
- OK, so first off, you need to have a NEW or existing FBML Tab (click add to page HERE)
- Copy the code found on THIS PAGE AT THE BOTTOM.

- Paste it into your FBML tab
- Replace the in the code with your images
As you can see, this is a great deal of fun and is rather simple and easy to do.
Here are some notes to remember…
- Your pictures / movie (whatever you want to reveal) must be no larger than 520px max width (SEE MY PAGE HERE).
- You can not see the revealed part if you are the page creator.
- Make sure to give away something really cool and use curiosity in your marketing to get your viewer to click LIKE.
Now, creating a reveal tab is a great deal of fun, but I thought you’d want some examples of other reveal tabs to get your creative juices flowing.
Here is a quick list of other fanpages I think you might like to model yours after. Go ahead and like their page so you can get a better idea of what you might want to reveal.
After customizing your page and you feel it’s just not right, might I suggest you consider what I believe to be the “best bang for the buck” in todays facebook creation. It’s called…

FanPageEngine is one of the easiest and fun additions to your fan page. It’s push button customization and it’s inexpensive, simple, fast, and easy to use. I use on many of my about me tab. I love it and recommend it to everyone. Plus I think you’ll like it too! Have fun! Simply click on the image above to check it out.

Hi Dereck,
This post should help a lot of folks who want to get started with reveal tabs. I used to use FBML for mine as well but since FB FBML is going away, have begun using iFrames instead. I’m sure that lot of folks will appreciate your making this process very straight forward and simple for them.
