How To Easily Categorize Leads From Aweber
Posted on 12. Jun, 2011 by Dereck Arreguin in HowTo

Today, I wanted to share with you my simple and easy method of categorizing my leads as I am notified from Aweber. But the real reason I wanted to share this with you today, is because I understand and know the struggle surrounding the whole “lead” thing.
- First, you need leads
- Second, you need to contact your leads
- Third, you need to be able to track your leads for follow ups and so on
So today, I wanted to share with you how I not only categorize them, but also my strategy within Aweber to make sure I know where to start. Watch this short video that gives a simple explanation of what to do.
Here is a simple break down of tasks and instructions of what to set up to make sure this process is simple and clean.
- Make sure to set up two separate accounts and link them to your primary Gmail account.
- One account is for others to respond to you. You don’t want your subscribers response emails to clutter your primary email account.
- The other account is for your lead notifications.
- Quickly set up a “CONTACTED” category within Gmail for the leads who you have contacted personally.
- Finally, while actually talking with your leads, make sure to write specific bullet points in the reply area (NOTE: MAKE SURE TO ERASE YOUR CONTACTS EMAIL ADDRESS).
- Then, send the email to your primary email account where you star it and label it as “CONTACTED”.
Always remember, for every lead you don’t contact, there is always someone (like myself) who will. Make sure that if you are playing the game to win, that you actually take the time to contact those who wish to learn your secrets. Remember, they left their phone number and email address to hear from you. You’ll be pleasantly surprise to learn that they are more than happy to hear someone reach out to them and help them with their troubles.
Happy building!

Excellent strategy. I have multiple email addresses that I use for my business and this helps a give me a great idea of how to better utilize them. This is something that I can definitely pass on to my students. As always you have some awesome ideas on how technology can help make our lives a little easier. And I’m all for that! (Oh, and I think aWeber rocks!)

Organization is not my strong point. I mean, I love to organize, but often forget from one day to the next HOW I organized something. I don’t use Aweber… the system I am with already has an autoresponder… but this looks like it would be a good way to do it.

Hey Dereck,
I think this is definitely something everyone ought to look into in greater detail.
I’m amazed at the level of control you achieve with your aweber lists with gmail.
Gotta take lead management to the next level!

When growing your business it’s increasingly important to have a good system in place to record contact details and follow up. I like one note myself. Good article to help people become more organized with their leads

Great article and I like how you’ve organized your material. I only have subscribers but I can see the importance of setting up a good system when you add leads into the mix. Well done!
